of trademarks, the authors of copyrights can assign their property.
Because assignment is a transfer of financial interest the courts
in Pakistan recognize assignments in writing alone. Assignments must
be recorded in the concerned registers of Controllers and Registrar
after fulfilling the legal requirements.
Where there are joint proprietors/authors the law requires all of
them to consent to any assignment. There is no requirement upon the
parties to disclose financial terms in the assignment agreement. Appropriate
extracts of the assignment instrument are sufficient for registration.
In case of Copyright assignment moral and integrity rights of author
and the work continue to remain with the author.
