| Design Registration |
Designs are registered by way of an application made
to the Registrar of the Patent Office in Pakistan. The Design for
a perticular article means its features of shape, configuration, pattern
or ornament applied to an article by any industrial process or means,
being features which in the finish article appeal to an are judged
solely by the eye, but does not include a method for principal of
construction or features of shape or configuration which are dectated
solely technical and functional considerations. The designs are initially
registered for a period of 10 years from the date of registration
and are extendable for a maximm period of 30 years subject to certain
conditions. The Registered Designs Ordinance 2000 also provide provision
for a convention application with a proviso that no applicaion shall
be made under secion 12 after the expiration of six months from teh
date of application for protection in a convention country or where
more then one such application for protection has been made, the date
of the first such application.
